There are also various different brass colours, which are dependant on the amount of weighting of metals in the alloy that produces Brass. Brass is predominantly a mixture of copper and zinc. For example, a more gold-coloured brass lamp would be an alloy of 75% copper and 25% zinc, but a brass with a more reddish bronze colour would have a lower percentage of zinc.

The best size for a brass table lamp would be where the bottom of the shade is dominantly at eye level, so if next to a sofa, make sure the bottom of the shade is no higher than where you would be comfortably sitting.
